The Moto Guzzi Limited Company, with its headquarters in Mandello del Lario, was legally founded in Genoa on 15th March 1921.The founders were Emanuele Vittorio Parodi, shipowner, his son and Giorgio, military aviation pilot, and Carlo Guzzi, mechanic. It was also the first four-stroke Guzzi motorcycle to abandon the traditional horizontal cylinder that had been the "signature" of the marque since 1921. This was followed by the legendary Galletto (1950) and the Lodola 175 (1956). In 1950, Moto Guzzi installed a state of the art wind tunnel at Mandello del Lario, making it the first constructor worldwide to do so. The company's racing division was a team of brilliant minds, with engineers such as Umberto Todero, Enrico Cantoni and the Milanese. Subsequently, the legendary brand was consolidated by the Galletto (1950), the Cardellino (1954) and the Lodola 175 (1956).
