Triking Guzzi
The Triking Type 4 uses the Moto Guzzi engine, drive train and front brakes from any of the range of “CARC” big block engined bikes i.e. Norge, Griso, Sport, Breva and Stelvio (Slelvio model has some minor suspension differences) The advantages of this range of donor bikes over previous Moto Guzzi models include…..
Triking guzzi. Moto Guzzi EFI engines generally have a definative “flat spot” around 3000 rpm this is a deliberate MG design characteristic intended to improve exhaust gas emissions, consequently it is recommended that a recently built Triking with an EFI engine be checked /set up by a Moto Guzzi dealer/service agent with suitable diagnostic / tuning. Guzzi engines always idle unevenly and Divey's mildly tuned unit biffs and bats as it warms. The lightly loaded gearbox slots like a rifle bolt and the lightweight clutch powers the Triking away with the characteristic tail-in-the-air Guzzi torque reaction. From the off this is an exceptional experience. Wind in your hair, yes. First built in the 1970s, the Triking is a ‘contemporary sports car’ inspired by classic Morgan three-wheelers. Based out of the UK, one of them has somehow made it over to the states, and is now ready for you to enjoy. Using the engine from a ’78 Guzzi between the front wheels, it has a Ford 5-speed transmission, a disc brake at each wheel, and a pristine interior and paint job. I have a CX650 JZR and the engine has died. I want to convert to a MotoGuzzi. What style/model Guzzi works best to do this? Thanks, Dave from T A Rounds, dated 21 june 2015 I have been interested in Triking/JZR/BRA 3-wheelers for decades. I am 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. Will I fit in the driver's seat?
First job is to get that Guzzi engine running before I spend a load of cash on bits only to find the engine is no good.... So engine cleaned up, compression tested, carbs cleaned and rebuilt, I bought a Silent Hektic ignition system for it as the original setup was half missing half broken.. The Triking uses the drive train from the Moto Guzzi range of high performance motor cycles, for customers wishing to source these components themselves the parts required are engine 850cc to 1200cc, gear box 5 speed type, universal joint x 2 (120mm type) rear swinging arm complete with bearings and bevel drive assembly. Hi Tony, Thanks for the feedback. The CAD drawing sounds like a great idea and would certainly be very useful. Even if there are several basic types of loom, I would expect that most of the detailed pages would be the same, so only the primary picture/diagram and a few of the detailed ones would be different so that should be manageable. The Moto Guzzi engine. The traditional Triking engine fitment has always been the Moto Guzzi unit in either 850, 950 or 1100cc guises and with around 70-110bhp a realistic expectation, and you can see why performance is so lively, especially in a vehicle weighing just 350kg. Triking Sports Cars was founded as Triking Cyclecars Ltd by former Lotus employee Tony Divey (1930 - 2013). He built the first Triking in the late 1970s because he was unable to acquire a Morgan. It featured a steel space frame with alloy panels and a glass-fibre bonnet, and was powered by a Moto Guzzi V-twin motorcycle engine. Its popularity led to production. 2010 Triking Showcar, Type 2 £21,000 This is a well sorted three-wheeler with its five speed box, all important reverse gear box, adjustable wishbones [should you want to hill-climb or trial or maybe take on the Morgans at circuit racing]. The Moto Guzzi engine was a natural choice for the Triking. In addition to being technically compatible it shares the Triking design philosophy of strength, simplicity and unique character It all started with three friends (Guzzi,Ravelli and Parodi) who were all in the Italian Air Corps during the First World War.they came from vastly different backgrounds, Guzzi was an engineer, Ravelli a
Triking Cyclecar with Moto Guzzi Power. By Paul Crowe. Triking Cyclecar. Morgan 3 wheeler replicas come in several flavors but the Triking was a really nice one.
